Everything is Coming up Round

13 09 2010

Ken said I should have named this entry “Balls, Balls, Balls”… lol, such a man title.
As you know I get fixated on certain things as seen by my “stuffing stuff into other stuff” phase of cooking. Today, for whatever reason, everything is round. I just wanted small, concrete things that I could portion out. So I made a batch of Eggface’s Oatmeal PB balls and turkey curry meatballs.
Turkey Curry Meatballs makes me instantly think of Bridgette Jones’ Diary and her mother’s “Turkey Curry Buffet” on the first day of the new year.

The curry in this recipe isnt overpowering, just mild, and it made a fabulous lunch with a yogurt dipping sauce on the side (we all know ground turkey can be dry for the gastric challenged)

Ken said he liked them, and to make them again… we went out for coffee later in the afternoon, and as he walked back into the flat he said “smells like curry in here, it is the lunch that keeps on giving”..LOL

Turkey Curry Meatballs w/ Yogurt Dipping Sauce

1 lb ground turkey
1/2 cup of panko or bread crumbs
1/3 cup of evaporated milk
2 tsp curry
2 tbsp dried onions (or 2 medium green onions chopped)
a dash of hot sauce
2 tbsps of cilantro

combine all ingredients and shape into 1 inch balls on a ungreased cookie sheet. I managed to get 21 healthy looking meatballs from the lot, but you may get more or less depending. Bake in a preheat 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.

Yogurt Dip

1 cup plain Greek yogurt
1.5 tbsp Ms Dash
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp dried onions
1/2 tsp curry
1/4 tsp corrainder

mix and set in fridge for 20 minutes so all the flavours mix. I found the dip sharp and oddly spiced… Next time I am going to dump some Tandoori spice in and call it a day.
